A pebble in the mosaic

It all started on that unforgettable day when the right words hit the right place in the soul of the founder-owner of Contall ..

“Can you imagine a child with severe cerebral palsy being removed from the safety of their home for weeks on end due to hospital treatment?

“Can you imagine an adolescent who has suffered a head injury in a car accident, or an adult neurological patient who has suffered a stroke (or similar condition), in urgent need of rehabilitation before being discharged from hospital, and they are placed in an overcrowded and crumbling infrastructure that has not been touched for more than 40 years?”

said the then head of the department, Dr. Yuri Karapanja. At that moment, she knew she had to add her piece to the puzzle. The Vrabček upanja Foundation is established.

Today, we are proud to say that the Department for Disabled Youth and Rehabilitation in Stara Gora is the heart of the Vrabček upanja Foundation. We immediately started fundraising and until 2018 we raised funds exclusively for the purchase of equipment and aids for the Department for Disabled Youth and Rehabilitation in Stara Gora.

In 2018, to our great satisfaction, construction of the new rehabilitation centre has just started. The funds raised so far (€200,000) were transferred to the account of the General Hospital Dr. Franca Derganca Nova Gorica, which committed itself by signing the agreement to purchase equipment for the new ward.

With full hearts, we were then able to do what we as the Vrabček upanja Foundation had been dreaming of for some time: to broaden our scope of action and to offer help in different cases and situations, both to individuals and to society and the environment as a whole.

Today we are proud to say that we are a voluntary, non-profit and non-governmental organisation, Vrabček upanja, which helps the needy, especially disabled youth, to get through difficult times. live a life of dignity and a sense of acceptance.

We do this by raising funds which are used transparently to purchase equipment and aids, for rehabilitation purposes, etc…

Because we believe in the power of genuine human interdependence.

The purpose of the Foundation

One of our ambassadors once said in an interview: ‘We are all just human beings. But when you close your eyes, everything fades away: success, money, pride, greatness. And it’s all pointless if there isn’t at least the thought of someone, the human warmth and the feeling that it’s nice to think of someone.”

Today, capital is overwhelmingly the driver of economic activity. It forces people to put their lives on autopilot, where the gaze is fixed only on the suffocating pursuit of goals.

It all started on that unforgettable day when the right words hit the right place in the founder’s soul…

On that day, we really heard the poignant words of the then head of the department, Dr Yuri Karapanja: “Can you imagine a child with severe cerebral palsy being torn from the safety of his home for weeks on end because of hospital treatment?

V tistem trenutku smo se soglasno odločili, da moramo prispevati svoj kamenček v mozaik. We have set up the Vrabček upanja Foundation.
