Tim Matavž and Valter Birsa again for charity

On Friday, for the third year in a row, the charity football match in Bilje was a success. Many spectators were able to admire the varied programme that took place on the green. The Prvačke majorettes danced, the Vogrsko Wind Orchestra played, and the beautiful Lipizzaners showed up.

Then the match between the “whites” (Vrabček upanja Foundation), led by Valter Birsa, and the “blues” (the LU Institute), led by Tim Matavž, started. Their teams consisted of well-known athletes and entertainers, including:
Zlatko Dedić, Matej Mavrič Rožič, Andrej Komac, Sebastjan Komeand Adrijan Fegic, and also a handball player David Špiler, former skiing star Jure Košir, volleyball player Davor Čebron, Bojan Jokić, Miran Burgič, Saša Ranić, Miran Srebrnič and Dušan Kosič, voleyball player Mitja Gasparini, skier Mitja Valenčič, rower Jani Klemenčič, mayor of Nova Gorica Matej Arčon, former man-in-waiting Črtomir Špacapan, former minister Patrick Vlačič, Denis Avdić and Vid Valič, while 74-year-old Vitko Uršič also contributed one goal to the victory.
During half-time we could watch the acrobatics of Bora and Asta le viste and their owner and trainer Amadeja.
Fortunately for the players, the sunny and hot afternoon was tempered by a fresh breeze, so the game could be played for almost the whole 90 minutes. The spectators had a lot to see, as the net was crashed 15 times (9:6).
As expected, Denis Avdić, Vid Valič and Ranko Babič provided the laughs.
Representatives of the Foundation had the opportunity to chat and meet the well-known Slovenians who have helped to make this race a reality for the third time. We will remember the third match with a Sparrow of Hope Foundation T-shirt, which was kindly signed by many of the players who took part.

Proceeds from the event will be announced shortly, once the tickets sold have been counted and the corporate donations have been added, and will be donated to the Vrabček upanjae Foundation and the LU Institute.

With the funds raised, we will be able to provide the Stara Gora Department for Disabled Youth with THERASUIT THERAPY EQUIPMENT (spider web), which consists of:

  • web
  • ropes
  • spider
  • a suit (one suit worth 1,800 € has already been purchased with funds raised at the Charity Gathering with Cherries and a Soccer Ball” Goriška Brda 2012)

In addition, we will provide training for a professional person who will be able to carry out the therapy with the equipment. The training will take place in Poland.
